Meet the Team – Ron Londre, Project Manager/Office Practice Leader – Planning, Permitting & Licensing
1) What is your role with the GWA Program?
I am the project manager overseeing TRC’s role in the GWA Program. TRC Environmental Corporation is a company that has been helping Waukesha Water Utility to ensure compliance with and secure permits and approvals under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (CWA), Wis. Admin. Code NR 281.36 and Ch. 30 (wetlands and waterways), the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and s. 32.035, Wis. Stats. (Agricultural Impact). TRC has also been contributing to the development of an Environmental Impact Report for Wisconsin Environmental Policy Act (WEPA) compliance and the preparation of a Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin Certificate of Authority (CA) application.
To support the permitting efforts, TRC conducted wetland and waterway delineations, floristic quality assessments, archeological surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, and agricultural data collection for an agricultural impact notice.
2) What is your background and how did you end up in this line of work?
Since childhood I’ve held a passion and interest in the natural environment. I spent a great deal of time hiking through woodlands and prairies, canoeing the Root River, and just playing in and with nature. Based on my passion and interest in the natural environment, I chose to pursue academic degrees in biological science, which eventually lead to a career as a consultant focused on natural resources. In my professional career, I serve to achieve balance between growing our built environment and sustaining our natural environment.
I have over 20 years of research and work experience in the fields of ecology and biology and over 14 years of professional project management and technical experience as a consulting ecologist. I have a M.S. and B.S. degrees in biological science and am a certified Professional Wetland Scientist and certified Senior Ecologist. I am also recognized by the Wisconsin DNR as an Assured Wetland Professional. I specialize in natural resource regulation compliance matters, environmental reporting, ecological restoration, and natural resource management and planning. I have completed hundreds of ecological, biological, and wetland assessment projects; assisted a variety of clients comply with natural resource regulations; and performed a variety of endangered resource surveys. I have also designed over 50 ecological restoration projects and contributed to the design of a variety of innovative green infrastructure projects.
