In June, the Wisconsin Policy Forum awarded the City of Waukesha and the City of Milwaukee the Intergovernmental Cooperation Award. The “Salute to Local Government” Awards recognize governments “for innovative problem solving, effective use of technology, partnership, and cooperation.” The award was accepted by Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly and by Ghassan Korban, Milwaukee Public Works Commissioner.
“Last year, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and I made a historic announcement of a water agreement between Waukesha and Milwaukee, saving us $4 million per year compared to other Lake Michigan suppliers,” Mayor Reilly said. “This was an important collaboration for the common good of our residents and businesses. We are proud to receive this award with Milwaukee, which we hope will lead to additional partnerships in the future.”
