As a kid, my fourth grade class would make weekly trips to the River Bend Nature Center in Racine. These outings were always impactful, hands-on learning experiences, giving us the chance to do everything from nature journaling in the forest to identifying creatures in the Root River.
Now, more than a few years later, some of my favorite Saturday mornings are spent kayaking down the Root with my husband.
